After a "No Man's Sky" subreddit was shut down due to hate comments, the forum was reopened by moderators hours after a strong fanbase clamored to have it back. The "No Man's Sky" subreddit has over 150,000 subscribers.
The shutdown of the subreddit /r/NoMansSkyTheGame pointed to the hate comments going around the forum. In his statement, r0ugew0lf, the moderator who took the forum down, said: "So I purged the subreddit. It's become a hate filled wastehole of no actual discussion." He added: "It's not what we intended it to be and I don't like providing a platform for hate."
The said "No Man's Sky" forum has a few moderators. He stressed that the other moderators tried to sway his decision not to shut down the forum, but to no avail.
"No Man's Sky" Subreddit Shutdown: Caused By False Ad Complaints?
"No Man's Sky" was recently under investigation of the U.K. Advertising Association Authority following complaints of its misleading ad shown on online gaming platform Steam. These complaints were lodged on the same forum that r0ugew0lf shut down. As to the speculation if these complaints are connected to the shutdown, no one can clarify for now.
Rebirthed "No Man's Sky" Subreddit
A few hours after closing down the forum, moderator Mod Sporkicide expressed that he had been boning up what had happened and is determining with r0ugew0lf the needs of the community. He pleaded subscribers and followers to "participate in good faith" and let bygones be bygones. However, there are still some who resent what r0ugew0lf did.
No More "No Man's Sky" Hate Comments
For subscribers, he noted to be wary when writing down hate comments, particularly those that malign the struggling moderator because they will be removed.
Meanwhile, Mod Sporkicide stated that the enraged moderator has already passed on the control over the forum as he will take a break. He noted of r0ugew0lf; "He's been an enormous help and I appreciate him working with us during a difficult time."
For now, Mod Sporkicide is still alone and has called for help from previous moderators to join him with the rebirthed community. He also mapped out that the new /r/NoMansSkyTheGame subreddit will do more moderation support.
