AMD Radeon Crimson 16.10.1 Software Now Optimized For ‘Gears Of War’

AMD has new drivers for its graphics cards with the release of the Radeon Crimson 16.10.01. The new version of the drivers was released in preparation for "Gears of War 4" and "Mafia 3." With the new update, known issues have been fixed as well.

According to Dark Side Of Gaming, AMD has released version 16.10.01 for its Radeon Crimson software drivers in order to optimize its graphics cards. This is for the games "Gears of War 4" and "Mafia 3." Aside from optimizing graphics cards, the patch notes for the new update adds CrossFire support for "Shadow Warriors 2."

The Guru of 3D adds that issues for other games have been fixed as well. Minor stutters during "Deus Ex's" CrossFire mode have been fixed, as the patch notes reveal. Random and sudden FPS drop in "The Crew" has also been fixed. An issue which "Overwatch" players have been complaining about has been fixed as well. The "Overwatch" issue involved characters flickering during selection in-game when in CrossFire mode.

While there are issues that have already been fixed, the update patch notes also state that there are still known issues. One of those known issues is that some game titles might fail when being launched when Raptr is enabled, though the notes don't say which game titles are affected. The suggested resolution is to disable Raptr when playing the game.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider" also has an issue where the game crashes if its resolution is changed. It is advised that players restart the game to have the resolution change take effect. "The Division" also has an issue when in CrossFire mode. Extended play in CrossFire might make the game hang.

The patch notes also say that some RX 400 series graphics cards have their issue resolved with Pixel Format, as that option is no longer missing in the Radeon Settings.

AMD just had the new driver updates rolled out. As with any update, it is always recommended to first backup files and data so as not to lose, or at least minimize loss, while updating. Sometimes updates might encounter issues and a rollback might be necessary. Backing up data ensures that data can be recovered if ever an update issue occurs.

AMD might have the new RX 490 come out this November, as iTechPost reports.
