It was stated previously that Kristen Stewart is allegedly replacing Nina Dobrev in the next season of Vampire Diaries; this is because of the gap between Nina and Ian. Stewart didn’t give any comments regarding the speculation but was said to do cameo on some of the series’ episodes.

New reports came in that would change the past speculation. As cited in Mobile & Apps, rumors suggests that Nina Dobrev will return as Elena Gilbert in the 8th season of “The Vampire Diaries”. Fans could still hope that Damon, played by Ian Somerhalder, would be controlled by a creature which will yield to Paul’s weariness for his brother’s future with Elena.

The executive producer of the series gave a hint in an interview as to what could viewers expect in the upcoming series:

"Stefan somehow inherently understands that what's happened to his brother is not Damon's fault,"

 "Whatever is going on with Damon, he's under some sort of control or is in some situation that he can't entirely get out of."

"He's very focused on trying to rescue his brother from this mess, understanding that the fallout of whatever it is that Damon has to do could impact his ability to be reunited with Elena one day."

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, some spoilers for the series showed that Damon will return to the dark side. Spoilers suggest that there would be a wrapping up of the love triangle between Katherine, Stefan, and Damon.

As to the comeback of Nina, it is still unidentified if the rumors were true; but viewers believe that if Dobrev will come back, the series would definitely come a long way.

The 8th Season of Vampire Diaries would be shown on October 21 to CW, which is Friday.
