Gears of War 4 is partnering with Universal Pictures to produce a movie based on the mega-popular franchise.

The latest announcement about Gears of War 4 was revealed during Gears of War 4 livestream as hosted by Rod Fergusson, the Coalition head.

To date, the movie is still at the pre-production stages. There are still no confirmed details as to the director or writer.

The only details released was that Gears of War 4 will be produced by Scott Stuber of Bluegrass Films.

Fergusson confirms that the film will take influence from more than the previous Gears of War games.

The goal of the production is to launch a great film that will bespeak truth about the spirit and essence of the franchise - not merely showing an exact copy of it.

"When you do a movie like this, you have to ... realize that it's a different medium with a different audience," Fergusson confirmed. "I think if you were to go in and say, like, 'OK, it's got to be completely 100 percent faithful to the game canon,' or the story of the game, like, what's going to end up happening is ... it's not going to be the best movie."

In 2007, you may recall New Line Cinema's announcement that it will be producing a Gears of War movie - when the franchise was still with Epic Games.

The announcement did not materialize for some reason. However, through the years, Gears of War series have shown great potential in the market; therefore, urging another attempt to plan a live-action adaptation of the game series.

Gears of War games don't necessarily have the deep plots many games usually have. Gears of War, on the other hand,  focuses more on creating enough lore in each series that will possibly open stories to produce a live-action movie.
