Mary Poppins Is Returning To The Big Screen, Things We Know So Far

Disney is just being Disney. The company is known for making reboots of its classic characters and they are in the verge of creating a new one.

Mary Poppins. The 1964 American musical fantasy comedy film that was produced by Walt Disney is getting a green light on its reboot. It was initially reported that the movie will be out on December 25, 2018 with the working title - ‘Mary Poppins Returns'.

The original movie was starred by one of the most iconic actresses of all time, Julie Andrews. She took the role as Mary Poppins. The plot of the story was Mary Poppins visited a dysfunctional family in London and tried to enforce her unique brand of style to improve the family's name. Mary Poppins was exactly released on August 27, 1964 and received a total of thirteen Academy Award nominations, which includes Best Picture.

The list of achievements includes Best Actress for Andrews, Best Film Editing, Best Original Music Score, Best Visual Effects, and Best Original Song for "Chim Chim Cher-ee". In 2013, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant"

According to insiders, Walt Disney Pictures is adding a spoonful of sugar to a new live-action musical from Rob Marshall who is famous for directing Into The woods. Emily Blunt, who also starred in Into the woods will portray as Mary Poppins and Lin-Manuel Miranda will also play a big part on Mary Poppins reboot.

The versatile Director has high praise with the symbolic movie. "I am truly humbled and honored to be asked by Disney to bring P.L. Travers' further adventures to the screen. The iconic original film means so much to me personally, and I look forward to creating an original movie musical that can bring Mary Poppins, and her message that childlike wonder can be found in even the most challenging of times, to a whole new generation," says Marshall.
