iOS 6 GM Jailbreak Tethered With Redsn0w 0.9.13dev4 for A4-based Devices

Apple unveiled the sixth generation iOS platform - iOS 6 - alongside the highly-anticipated iPhone 5 on Sept. 12. The company also announced that the latest version of its mobile OS would be available for all the supported devices : iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 5/4, iPad 3, iPad 2, and Apple TV from Wednesday, Sept. 19.

However, with the arrival of a new version of iOS, a fair amount of uncertainty gets generated every time as jailbreak fans wait to find out if the community has managed to get into the new platform, especially since Apple takes this opportunity to close certain loops in the firmware that jailbreak development teams used to bypass security in the previous iOS version.

Fortunately, the team is already hard at work and MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-Team has already updated Redsn0w 0.9.13 to support the GM seed for tethered jailbreak on iPhone 4, 3GS, and iPod touch 4.

"redsn0w dev4 tethered JB updated for yesterday's 6.0 GM (developer openssh style). See update #3 at https://is.gd/MCbq7A," MuscleNerd Tweeted.

"The 'dev4' version covers all the betas and yesterday's 6.0 GM seed. There are some remaining issues with Cydia and fundamental modules like PreferenceLoader, so it remains an open ssh-style developer-only release only for now," states the official blog post of the iPhone Dev Team.

Before starting, it is important to note that this tethered jailbreak won't install Cydia yet. It will only provide the root access, which will enable users to install the custom packages of their choice using SSH.

Additionally, iTechPost will not be held responsible for any kind of device damage or other issues, so proceed with caution.

Unless you are an advanced user or a developer, it is advisable to veer away from this jailbreak until Cydia is fully compatible to work with iOS 6.

Here are the steps to jailbreak iOS 6 GM on A4 devices -
