Microsoft is finally ready to unveil Windows Phone 8. Per reports, the Redmond-based company has finished the development of its upcoming mobile platform.

The new information has arrived after it was reported that LiveSino, a Chinese tech Web site, posted images, said to be obtained from an inside source in the Windows Phone 8 team, that showed individuals signing on a board which specified that the software had reached the release to manufacturing(RTM) stage.

However, if the leak is authentic, the next phase of work is porting the OS onto the next-generation of Windows Phone devices, which includes the recently revealed Nokia Lumia 920. Microsoft is anticipated to launch the Windows Phone 8 in late October, with Nokia eyeing a potential Nov. 2 release of its Lumia 920 in the U.S.

Windows Phone 8, codenamed 'Apollo', has been in the developmental stage since 2011. The previous major version of Windows Phone - codenamed 'Mango' - received the RTM status in July 26. According to WPCentral report "Bringing along a new core architecture built upon the NT kernel, the Windows Phone 8 OS will allow Microsoft to adopt cutting edge technology and heavily compete with Android and iOS in terms of features and hardware flexibility."

Additionally, Microsoft, at its annual company meeting on Sept. 13 announced that it will be providing all its employees with free Windows Phone 8 devices, as well as Surface tablets.
