Sleeping Dogs 2 Can Still Happen Even After Its Original Developer Shuts Down

Fans anticipating about Sleeping Dogs 2 to come out have given up on their hopes since word has it that United Front Games will soon ride towards the sunset. The company has yet to announce it formally but the internet just keeps on giving us advanced information. Welcome to 2016.

It seems that the game developer will only have Smash+Grab as their last released game, or should we say 'semi-released'. the game is about an underground rivalry where gangs, apparently set in the future, brawl for notoriety, weapons, and loot. Players are allowed to put together a roster of fighters and team up online. It also includes weapon crafting.

Sadly, Smash+Grab has been untagged from the list of items for sale on Steam. On top of that, Jen Tims - United Front Games producer, tweeted something that would confirm the studio's demise. The tweet says something about her mourning over the best job she had and the wonderful team she worked with. The message ended with "Goodbye, UFG"

United Front Games also created Modnation Racers and Little Big Planet Karting for the PlayStation 3. They also collaborated with other big companies to create Disney's Infinity and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Reason for shut down is still unclear as of this writing and we will bring it to you as soon as it becomes official.

What about Sleeping Dogs 2?

As said earlier, Sleeping Dogs fans are now sort of mourning as it is speculated that the sequel will not be coming out due to its developer's discontinuance. The Hong Kong version of GTA, but has really good brawler mechanics, was released in 2012 for the previous generation consoles and got a remaster for the PS4 and Xbox One. Steam also has the game in its library for both original (discontinued) and remastered. A spin-off was also in development but ultimately was cancelled. It's almost five years now and no signs of a sequel yet. How would Wei Shen feel?

However, Sleeping Dogs 2 may still become a reality. According to EuroGamer.net, publisher Square Enix still has rights to the Sleeping Dogs franchise. The company is currently busy with other games such as Final Fantasy but who knows, when the tides clear, maybe they'd decide to pick up where United Front Games had left off. In case the sequel pushes thru, here are some of the things that fans do not like about the original:
