Xbox 360 Gets $50 Price Cut – Preparation For Xbox 720?

Microsoft's heavily rumored futuristic gaming console Xbox 720 has garnered a host of leaks and information over the past months, and anything happening on the Xbox 360 front, has been somehow linked to the 720. Now, per reports, Microsoft has slashed $50 off the price of the current Xbox 360 for the approaching holiday season, along with special "Holiday Bundles."

The recent price cut was anticipated all over the web, especially after Sony announced its own price cut on the PlayStation front. Now, according to reports, multiple retailers including Amazon, GameStop, Target, and Best Buy, have been stocking up on Xbox 360 bundles for the upcoming holiday season with an aim to have a price drop for the console.

Microsoft has made the $50 price cut for a limited time, and it will also be available with the Xbox 360 Limited Edition "Halo 4" console bundle. The limited edition console is available for pre-order and will arrive in stores with the launch of the upcoming "Halo 4" on Nov. 6.

The new policy and promotion from Microsoft is understandable as the company, instead of permanently cutting prices on its Xbox 360 video game consoles this year, decided to offer special valuable bundles with new games and Kinect motion sensors, as well as reduced pricing on consoles in select locations.

This approach will allow Microsoft to keep the interest towards its gaming system high without lowering the price permanently. Moreover, according to the Examiner, this could also be "the final holiday season the Xbox 360 will be the featured console for Microsoft, and it could also mark the start of the shift towards the next Xbox."

"In addition, this could also be another play on Microsoft's part to try and entice customers to purchase their discounted system before the Wii U hits the market," reported the Examiner.

Numerous bundles that have been priced at $299.99 are set to include both 250GB and 4GB console options, alongside a host of games and Kinect packages on offer. Moreover, a different $399.99 bundle includes the 250GB gaming console, Kinect, Kinect Adventures, Carnival Games and a special one month of Xbox Live Gold access.
