PS Vita Receives Firmware 2.0 Update

PS Vita owners have some great news awaiting them. Per reports, Sony has approved the highly-anticipated firmware 2.0 update for the company’s newest handheld gaming console, and now it is scheduled to arrive next week.

The new firmware 2.0 update is set to bring support for PlayStation Plus, with existing subscribers also in for a pleasant surprise. With the PlayStation Plus now available for PS Vita, owners will now have instant Game Collection available to them. Moreover, the company has also revealed which games it will be releasing in the inauguration month. This news will please a lot of Vita owners.

Having a Plus subscription, similar to the company’s PlayStation 3 counterpart, will provide users with a selection of games each month for free, alongside other incentives. While many Vita owners had feared that the free Vita games on offer would be "below par" games that haven’t made much of a name for itself, but the new list of games show that such speculations are now wrong as Sony has placed some big-hitters in the list.

Now, as it seems, PlayStation Plus is bringing Vita owners their very own Instant Game Collection, and Sony has officially revealed the games featured for the service's U.S. debut. Below is the list of games that the company has chosen:

- Uncharted: Golden Abyss

- Gravity Rush

- WipeOut 2048

- Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions (PSP)

- Jet Set Radio HD

- Tales from Space: Mutant Blobs Attack

Additionally, new owners in the U.S. have much to gain. According to a Product Reviews report, anyone who is based in the U.S. and has "a subscription to PlayStation Plus – it’s a different story all together. We often see EU PlayStation customers given the short straw time and time again, and unfortunately we have yet another instance to tell you about here. US Vita owners with a subscription will be getting six games, instead of four and the selection on offer is easily the better out of the two.”

Moreover, Sony is also offering 1GB cloud support for users who feel that their small Vita memory card is unable to cope with all the saves and the game data. In a nutshell, the Vita firmware 2.0 also brings web browser improvements, 1080p video playback, a new email client, and improved wireless data transfer between the PS3 and Vita.

A three-month subscription for Plus will be available for either £11.99 or $17.99, while there is also a yearly option priced at £39.99 or $49.99 in the U.S.
