"The Originals" season 4 might have a different feel from previous installments because the upcoming episodes rank higher on the horror meter. Taking their cue from Stephen King's works, The CW's executive producer for "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals," Julie Plec, revealed that the writers will let the "horror flag" fly. She also confirmed that there's a "thousand percent" chance of a crossover between the two vampire shows.
"The Originals" Season 4 New Entity
Following Plec's confirmation that there would be a "monster at large" that will wreak havoc in New Orleans, spoiler reports hinted that this "powerful entity" will be featured starting episode 7 of "The Originals" season 4.
Since this new "power" will be introduced mid-season, a possible crossover with "The Vampire Diaries" could happen in the first six episodes of the series. This new enemy will shake things up and would add a horror factor to the vampire series.
In Plec's interview for "The Vampire Diaries," she already stated that she would like to continue working with the cast members. She added that the TVD cast could be integrated into "The Originals" and that there was a "thousand percent" chance of a crossover between TVD and its spin-off "The Originals." However, she did not indicate any details for the possible crossover.
What We Know So Far
As previously hinted, "The Originals" season 4 will kick off with a five-year time jump. By this time, Hope is far from being a baby and her 7-year-old self which would be played by Summer Fontana. Hope will be an integral part of the season.
At the close of "The Originals" season 3, the Mikaelson family suffered quite a terrible faith and Hope's mom Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) was out to find cure for Freya, Rebekah, and Marcel. Another integral part of the season would feature Hayley in her quest to find the seven packs while she explores her werewolf side. The imminent Mikaelson family reunion is also one thing to watch out for in the new season.
While "The Originals" season 4 is slated to be the show's final season on the CW, there's still no news whether the series will be on its way to ABC or any other network.
