2017 Porsche 718 Boxter S Update: First Drive Taken, Changes For The Better?

Porsche is one of the most recognized names when it comes to cars with great performances. The 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster has taken its first drive where changes have been noted. While others look forward to the changes, others wonder if these are for the better or not.

The 2017 Porsche Boxster Specs

According to Digital Trends, the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster is now equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine capable of 300 horsepower while the Boxster S has 350 horsepower with 309 lb-ft torque with its 2.5-liter engine with turbo power. In the same report, it was stated that the engines are paired with six-speed manual gearbox and an option for a seven-speed dual clutch transmission that will send all the powers to the rear wheels. With these engines, the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster and Boxter S are now capable of going from zero to 60 mph in four to 4.5 seconds respectively as reported by Motor Authority.

What Else Is There?

Aside from engine upgrade, the 2017 Porsche Boxster has more stability as a result of a firmer suspension setup, although the suspension in the front and rear themselves have not been changed. Digital Trends mentioned that the 24 mpg fuel consumption of the 2017 Porsche Boxster S has not changed from the previous model. No details about the fuel consumption of the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster were mentioned.

The Price Of 2017 Porsche Boxster

Despite being a new entrant, the 2017 Porsche 718 Boxster is still a product from the renowned automaker and its price tag starts at $53,900. One the other hand, the 2017 Porsche Boxster S has a price of $68,400. With more trims added, the price also goes higher. With all options included, the price can reach up to $94,310. Of course, it would be up to the buyer whether or not they would be willing and if they are comfortable enough to spend more money on trims.
