Microsoft Xbox One Beats Sony PlayStation 4 In Terms Of Sales; Ominous Signs For PS4 Pro?

Microsoft is claiming that the Xbox One has been top selling game platform in the US market last October. What does this mean for Sony and its PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro?

National Purchase Diary (NPD) Puts Microsoft Xbox One In The Lead

Microsoft is claiming victory over Sony in the sale of gaming consoles. It seems that the Xbox One is the consistent top seller for four months now in the US market. The PlayStation 4 has also been relegated to second place in the British and Australian market for two consecutive months now. It is important to note that the information came from Microsoft and the official NPD report has yet to come out.

Reason For Microsoft Xbox One Triumph Over PlayStation 4

Microsoft mentioned that the popularity of Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3 and Battlefield 1 were substantial incentives for players to buy its gaming console. Microsoft Studios is the game publisher for Gears of War 4 and Forza Horizon 3. Both of the games are Xbox One and Windows PC exclusive. Battlefield 1 on the other hand, is one of the games bundled for the Xbox One S. Microsoft also reported that number of Xbox Live players increased by more than 50 percent compared to 2015.

Should Sony Be Worried?

Sony is used to being in the lead in its console gaming wars with Microsoft. Currently, PlayStation 4 units sold far outnumber the Xbox One. But Microsoft is now on the offensive launching a new Xbox One S that features an Ultra HD Blu-ray capable playing or upscaling 4K games and videos.

The sales number may turn once again to Sony's favor with the release of its newest console, the PlayStation 4 Pro. Next year however, Microsoft will unveil the Xbox Project Scorpio, a gaming platform that can run 4K games natively which the PS4 Pro cannot.
