Barnes & Noble Challenges Amazon With New $50 Nook Tablet 7"

Barnes & Noble is back in the game. The largest retail bookseller in the United States will release a new device that is set to challenge Amazon which has gained an advantage in the market recently.

With more than a week before the much-awaited Black Friday Sale, the Barnes & Noble unveiled its new Android tablet -- the Nook Tablet 7".

"We're extremely excited to introduce our most affordable NOOK ever, just in time for the holiday shopping season, so customers can give their loved ones the gift of reading forever for less," said Fred Argir, Barnes & Noble's Chief Digital Officer.

"NOOK Tablet 7" has everything that customers expect from a NOOK, but for less than $50. It truly is the perfect present for everyone in the family, providing access to millions of NOOK Books and a universe of content at an unbeatable price."

Specifications

The NOOK Tablet 7" sports a 7-inch IPS display, as its name implies. It also has a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

Avid readers will be glad to know that the new tablet has 7 hours of battery life and 8GB internal storage which can be expanded to 128GB using a microSD. That is enough space for a good collection of digital books.

The NOOK Tablet 7" also has two cameras - 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera. It has a microUSB port, headphone jack, and dual-band WiFi.

It comes pre-installed with Google Play Store, the NOOK reading app and other NOOK features.

NOOK Store

NOOK users will have access to over 4.5 million books. This list includes classics, new releases and bestselling titles. The NOOK Store also has comic books, children's books, interactive picture boks, magazines, newspapers, graphic novels, cookbooks, travel guides, enhanced titles with special content, and lots more.

The NOOK Tablet 7" is worth only $49.99. That is around $30 cheaper than the Amazon Kindle.
