Galaxy S3 Deal Alert: Samsung's Smartphone Is $39.99

Samsung's Galaxy S3 is one of the world's most popular premium phones, and now it's on sale.

Verizon Wireless is currently offering the Galaxy S3 for $49.99 via Wirefly, the company's number-one authorized online retailer. Considering the phone retails for about 200 bucks, that's a pretty great deal.

Even better, though, is that if you check out and use the code "TB10," you'll get an extra 10 dollars off, putting the phone at a $39.99, with free shipping. Color choices available are black, white and blue.

The deal is undoubtedly pretty great, but with all the hype surrounding a rumored April release for the Galaxy S4, is the S3 still worth the money? It's a decision that needs to be weighed carefully, because as good as the deal is, it still requires you to sign on for a two-year contract.

The phone comes with Android 4.0 built in, but you can upgrade the software to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 as soon as you take it out and turn it on. A Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update is also available for you to install online if you desire. Aside from Android updates, you can also upgrade to Samsung's Premium Suite, which offers new multitasking features, multiple window options and customization options.

Here's what the Galaxy S3 comes packing out of the box:

- 4.8-inch 306ppi (pixels per inch) 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED Plus HD display
- 1.5 GHz dual-core processor
- 16GB of internal memory
- 2GB of RAM
- 8-megapixel rear camera (1080p HD video capability)
- 1.9-megapixel front camera (720p HD video)
- microSD support up to 64GB
- 2,100 mAh battery
- Buetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE
- Android 4.0 (upgradable to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean)
