Xbox One News: Snap Mode Planned To Be Discontinued

The Xbox One's holiday update is already out and some changes can surely be noticed. What's coming next? Sad news for people who are enjoying the Snap feature as it is possible to be removed during future updates. If it serves as consolation, another feature will be coming in a form of Guide menu thing.

According to a post at Game Spot, Microsoft has been testing a new Guide menu tab that will assist players and also offer 'instant access' to recently closed apps, games, and other functions. On top of that, the new menu thing will display your pins which can also be customized in tabs, allowing users flexibility on how to access them.

Another more intriguing news is the ability to have a single button press to access the said Guide menu. Currently, you need to tap the button twice to access the main menu, the idea is most probably taken from the Xbox 360 which perfectly worked before. It may just be an extra button push more but for avid users, it makes a lot of difference. One extra button push makes news intriguing, welcome to the irate users world.

Oh, snap!

Microsoft plans to remove Snap, a multitasking feature for the Xbox One, and replace it with something new. Windows Central reports that Xbox seems to be exploring the possibility of utilizing picture-in-picture implementation for multitasking as opposed to Snap which would just hover in one corner of your game screen. Speculations such as window drags and opacity adjustments to suit every user's preference are also reported.

Another reason why Snap needs to 'evolve' in another form is that it may be linked to prepare for the coming of Project Scorpio. It's practically an Xbox game but with more beef. If you just bought an Xbox One, you probably might not want to get too attached with the Snap feature.
