While fans eagerly await the arrival of the iPhone on T-Mobile, the buzz word is that the U.S. carrier will be getting another top-end smartphone very soon. Per reports, Nokia is gearing up to launch the successor of the Lumia 920, dubbed the "Catwalk," on T-Mobile over the summer.

The "Catwalk" is slated to be the Finnish company's flagship for 2013. Currently, no details on what lies under the hood are known; however, in a break with tradition, the alleged Lumia 920 successor is believed to sport an aluminum body and not the poly-carbonate design which the current crop of Lumia smartphones feature.

"A switch away from polycarbonate designs towards an aluminum body will take place with a new Catwalk device too that will debut on T-Mobile in the summer. Nokia's plans for the high-end are aggressive and underline the company's focus on Windows Phone," reports The Verge.

Considering more and more smartphone manufacturers are opting for thinner and lightweight phones with nearly non-existent bezels, the use of aluminum would allow the purported Lumia smartphone to sport a lighter and slimmer frame than the Lumia 920.

Earlier in January, the grapevine was abuzz with rumors that the successor of the hugely popular Lumia 920 would sport an aluminum exterior and discard the current polycarbonate body. At the time, the news was courtesy The Verge who got the information from reliable "sources familiar with Nokia's plans." The rumors also indicated that the "Catwalk" would have the same internals as the high-end Lumia 920.

The Lumia 920, launched in early November 2012, was exclusive to AT&T in the U.S. Rumors are rife that Verizon too will get a variant of the Lumia 920: the Lumia 928, code-named the Nokia Laser.

With both T-Mobile and Verizon looking to offer their versions of the Lumia 920 soon, consumers will soon have the option to purchase the popular Windows Phone 8-powered handset from other carriers.
