Final Fantasy XV Guide: How To Master And Speed Up Your Combat

Final Fantasy XV has finally arrived and with it comes a new fast paced combat. Instead of the turn-based combat mode that we got used to, Final Fantasy XV will go for more combat speed and more fighting style. Each combat attack will require the use of one button and the thumbstick will become busier this time. Basically, learning the new and faster combat mode that the newest Final Fantasy installment has is easy. But you would need some guide to actually become good at it.

Learn And Master Defensive Maneuvers

If you want to stay alive in Final Fantasy XV, then the first thing that you have to master is defensive maneuvers. This includes blocking, dodging and parrying attacks from your enemy. Noctis is already effective with his dodging techniques. The quick side-step he does is really quick and will get you out of danger in no time. Another thing to learn is that timing in very important when you block or parry your opponent's attack. When done right, you can have the advantage of doing the most damage against your enemy.

Warp Is Great - Use It

Noctis is the only character in the Final Fantasy series who can use the teleport specific power, warp. With warp attacks, Noct can do his enemies even greater damage, break enemy attacks and even get out of combat quickly. Warp gives you high vantage points when you get on a fight. When you choose to warp, you are also able to regenerate some of your health in the game better.  Not only that, you also get your magic filled instantly so you can warp some more and do it again and again. Our point? Warping is great and it's a sure way to keep Noctis agile and speedy even in combat.

Update And Upgrade Your Weapons And Accessories

As you progress into Final Fantasy XV, you'll see more and more enemies flanking you on all sides. Your enemies will become more terrifying with armored wasps with those enormous stingers or skeletons walking with scythes. If you can have a weapon that does more damage when you use them against the enemy, buy it. Swap your old accessories for new ones to get the most benefit from them. If you're enemy keeps getting stronger or their weapons look more damaging than usual, then it will be high time that you do the same thing.

Magic - When Used Properly - Is Amazing

If you have to go to battles, make sure that you have a few magic tricks up your sleeve. Magic spells can be great against some humongous or elemental enemies that you may have into the game. There are plenty of spells you can try so don't be afraid to experiment. However, be careful whenever you use magic. If not done right, you might do your allies harm instead of helping them. Our advice? Use magic with caution.

Take note: There are two types of damage that you can do in Final Fantasy XV when it comes to combat: physical damage and magical damage. As the name implies, you exact physical damage when you use weapons and magical damage when you use spells. Magical damage are more complex since they can be elemental which means that you can control the five elements found in the game like ballistic, dark, fire, ice and lightning. If your enemy seems susceptible to physical damage, then you might want to give him a dose of magical damage.

Switch Weapons

Final Fantasy XV allows Noctis to use four different types of weapon simultaneously during a fight. Switch weapons as you need it to win any battle against the enemy. This is also another reason why you have to constantly update and upgrade your gears and accessories. The right weapons and accessories in battles do make a lot of difference in deciding who will become the winner.

Use Combo Attacks

Since attacks require the use of a single button, then you can do combos to easily finish your enemies by holding or pressing down several buttons at once. Combo attacks are powerful moves that you can use to do the most damage to your enemies. Besides, you can take down more enemies with a combo attack compared to just using a single one. A little like hitting two birds with just one stone. However, take note that you cannot make Noctis switch weapon, guard himself or dodge an enemy's attack if he's doing combo attacks. Just execute this form of attack if you see your enemy really vulnerable and without anymore fight left in him.

Use Your Team's Abilities

Every man in your team will have his fair share of power and ability. Ignis can pinpoint weakspots on the enemy with the help of his knives. Gladio's spinning attack can do great damage against your opponents when used. Prompto can single-handedly damage an enemy. The thing is, don't be afraid to use your team's power and ability to do an even greater damage against your foes.

Spend Your Ability Points Wisely

As you level up in Final Fantasy XV, you will be able to earn Ability Points or AP. With it, you can buy new abilities available on the Ascension Grid or do some really cool stuff like increasing your magical abilities. You can also increase your active combat with APs. If you spend your Ability Points wisely, you can help your team get new attacks and have them perform their own first aid on themselves. In short, the more you make your team self-sufficient, the better it would all be for you to survive the gameplay longer.

Do Your Best To Be Stealthy

In Final Fantasy XV, your combat grades will depend on your defense, offense and stealth. Of all these, stealth is the part that you should give more focus is. FFXV gives you higher grades if you know how to hit your enemies on their blindside. Doing so helps you do them more damage. More than that, going stealthy in fights effectively keeps you out of danger. Plus, you have the advantage of seeing your enemy while you remain "invisible" to them.
