Sony Xperia XZ Gets Android Nougat Update Will Start On Monday

The much-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update for Xperia XZ is here. Just this Monday, Sony announced that it has started the Android 7.0 Nougat update rollout for its flagship smartphone, the Xperia XZ. The update is expected to come with a triple sensor camera.

Sony Xperia XZ Gets Android Nougat Update

Sony Xperia XZ is the first among 10 other Xperia-series smartphones and tablets to get the update, according to BGR. The update brings all the goodness of Android Nougat along with bug fixes, camera feature enhancement and performance improvements. Being rolled out as an over-the-air (OTA) update, it is around 1GB in size.

As reported by Economic Times, due to the update, Sony Xperia XZ units will have now a multi-window support, enabling the smartphone to run two apps simultaneously and double tap to switch between each application. The update will also deliver a longer battery life, bundled notification, quick reply to messages from notifications and a new messaging app enabling users to share videos and audio with a few taps.

The water-resistant Xperia XZ has two powerful cameras. First is the 23MP main camera with triple image sensing technology that captures images with three times the precision and a 13MP wide angle front or selfie camera. It was launched in September this year. The Rs 51,990 device is available across all Sony centres and major electronic outlets.

Check Your Smartphone For The Update

The rollout is being done in a phased manner, it may take a while before the update hits your device. Once the update is available, you will get a notification about the same. In the meantime, you can also manually check for the update by heading over to Settings > About Phone > Software Update.

Android Nougat has already reached several phones so far. While Moto Z and Moto Z force have already received the update, Huawei also last week announced its list of phones that will get the latest Android 7.0 Nougat. The update for Huawei phones is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2017.
