Verizon Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2 Jelly Bean Update Leaks: A Step-By-Step Install Guide

Verizon has long been last out the gate when it comes to Galaxy Nexus updates, despite the fact that the Nexus line represents Google's flagship devices.

After rumors swirled this week about an impending 4.2.2 Jelly Bean update, many Verizon subscribers were salivating over reports that the update includes improved radio and call quality.

Over the weekend, the update to Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean leaked online, and if you're unwilling to wait for the official release, this step-by-step guide will show you how to manually flash the new software to your Verizon Galaxy Nexus device.

Preperations

One does not simply update an Android.

First, you'll need to download the custom ROM file here. The .zip archive requires you be running a stock version of the most recent OTA update, which is Jelly Bean 4.1.1 (JRO030O).

Copy the .zip archive onto your Galaxy Nexus' SD card.

Make sure your handset is backed up and charged to at least 80 percent before proceeding.

Step 1: Boot your device into custom recovery mode by using CWM or pressing down the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power keys at the same time.

Step 2: Using the .zip archive you downloaded earlier, install the update from your device's SD card.

Step 3: The phone will reboot. You are updated to Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2.

You also have the option of flashing only the new radios onto your device if you're already CM10.1-m2 or other custom ROM.

To do so, first, download this file.

As with the Jelly Bean update, make sure your device is backed up and charged to 80 percent before proceeding.

Step 1: Boot your device into custom recovery mode by using CWM or pressing down the Volume Up, Volume Down and Power keys at the same time.

Step 2: Install the radio files from the .zip archive using your device's SD card.

Step 3: Your Galaxy Nexus will now reboot with new radios.
