Engage LT Hits Cricket Wireless: 4-Inch Screen, Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich And More

The latest Android smartphone in low-cost prepaid carrier Cricket's lineup is Engage LT. The phone features Cricket's Muve Music and is available now at Cricket stores, dealers, and online for $199.

"The new Cricket Engage LT offers a large 4-inch WVGA touchscreen display, dual cameras, Android 4.0 ICS, a fast 1 GHz Snapdragon processor and 1GB of RAM that provides plenty of power if you're getting a smartphone for the first time, or upgrading from an earlier basic smartphone," Matt Stoiber, senior vice president, devices for Cricket, said in a statement. "Cricket is excited to offer our customers an affordable smartphone with outstanding features."

The Engage LT has a 3.2-megapixel camera that includes a panoramic mode that lets users take sweeping panoramic shots. Also included are adjustment options for white balance, exposure, 4x zoom, and color effects. Customers can also record 480p video.

Muve Music, Cricket's mobile music service, has Dolby Mobile audio enhancement. Muve Music customers gain acces to discovering new music through its monthly artist programs such as Muve First and Muve Headliner. Fatured artists offer exclusive commentary, music and videos every month.

The only drawback on Cricket is that you won't get 4G service. Still, 3G rate plans start at $50 for unlimited talk and text plus up to 1GB of data. The $60 smartphone plan contains up to 2.5 GB of data and the $70 smartphone plan offers up to 5GB of data.

As Android Police points out, the Engage LT may not be the wisest of buys, as its specs are similar to its predecessor.
