3 Kinds Of Kettle-Cooked Potato Chips, 1 Brand Of Sour Cream, And Chive Potato Chips; Recalled By Giant Food Stores And US FDA Due To Salmonella Contamination

Three kinds of kettle-cooked potato chips, one brand of sour cream and chive potato chips have been recalled in the market. This is in response to Giant Food Stores and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announcement. The recall is in connection with possible contamination of Salmonella.

By Wednesday, Giant Food Stores further announced the recall of the following brands and package sizes:

Herr's Smoked Chipotle flavored Kettle Cooked Potato Chips, 2.625 oz., UPC 7260003339 with Best by Dates of November 13, 2016, through March 27, 2017.

Herr's Smoked Chipotle flavored Kettle Cooked Potato Chips, 8 oz., UPC 7260003420 with Best by Dates of November 26, 2016, through April 24, 2017.

Dieffenbach's Sour Cream and Onion Kettle Chips, 9 oz., UPC 78565400014 with Best by dates between 18DEC2016 and 02APR2017.

Dieffenbach's Sour Cream and Onion Kettle Chips, 2 oz., UPC 78565400015 with Best by dates between 01JAN2016 and 02APR2017.

Route 11 Sour Cream & Chive Potato Chips, 2 oz., UPC 4493500062 with Best by Dates between 2-9-17 and 6-10-17.

Route 11 Sour Cream & Chive Potato Chips, 6 oz., UPC 4493500061 with Best by Dates between 2-9-17 and 6-10-17.

The U.S. FDA confirmed the recall of the following:

Snyder of Berlin Buffalo Blue Kettle Cooked Potato Chips; 8 oz. (227g); UPC 0 23000 43922 9; product codes FEB2117M77A, FEB2117H44A, FEB2117H44B, FEB2817H77A, MAR0717H77A, MAR2117M77A.

The Snyder of Berlin was distributed in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Maryland, New York State and Tennessee. According to FDA, it was recalled because the milk product used in its spice blend may contain Salmonella.

Deiffenbach has also decided to present its products for recall "after being informed by a seasoning supplier, that an ingredient in the seasoning may contain traces of Salmonella," as reported by U.S. FDA.

"Although tests have shown no existence of Salmonella in the seasoning that was supplied to Dieffenbach's, out of abundance of caution we are voluntarily issuing the recall of these products in conjunction with FDA guidance," said the official statement of Deiffenbach as released by U.S. FDA.

To confirm, no further products by these companies have have been affected by the recalls.
