Alfa Romeo Stelvio Generates More Hype Than Expected

When Alfa Romeo announced its return to the U.S. market, it made a lot of fans and enthusiasts that patiently awaited its comeback excited. The automaker's first model SUV is one of those that will be making the U.S. lineup and it is generating more hype than expected. Aside from the fact that it has a stunning appearance, it also has a lot of power under the hood.

The Stelvio Powertrain

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Stelvio will have a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine in the lower trims that will deliver 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. This is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that will send the power through an all-wheel drive (AWD) drivetrain configuration. The other engine is a 2.9-liter twin turbocharged V6 with a monstrous amount of 505 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque as reported. At present, none in the SUV segment comes close to this kind of configuration as reported.

Best In Show

The 2017 Alfa Romeo Stelvio was first introduced at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show that took place last month. It was noted that during the abovementioned event, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Stelvio was able to get the Best in Show award thanks to its good looks, race-inspired power configuration and top of the line technology. "I wasn't sure how Alfa's styling would translate to a taller vehicle, but no worries, the Stelvio is bellissima. With good looks and what promises to be a hair-raising driving experience, this is a big step up for Alfa," said Brian Wong of Cars.com in a report.

The Big Comeback

The return of the Alfa Romeo stateside is already enough to make a lot of people excited. However, given the market share in the auto industry being divided to the giant automakers in America, one would assume that the Italian automaker will be lagging behind. Contrary to the assumption however, the 2017 Alfa Romeo Stelvio generated more hype than expected. It appears that Alfa Romeo's comeback will be a big one.
