Would You Pre-Order A Statue Of The Kojima Productions Mascot Ludens Worth $1,999?

Hideo Kojima shocked longtime gaming fans when he left Konami to work with his own studio, Kojima Productions. Their first game that will be called Death Stranding has been getting a lot of buzz ever since its reveal, so a lot of eyes are looking at Kojima's studio, waiting for what they will do next. News has it that a statue of the Kojima Prod. mascot, Ludens, is up for pre-order, and he's worth almost $2,000.

According to Polygon, Ludens was revealed earlier this year and designed by Yoji Shinkawa, an artist from Kojima Productions who has been working with Hideo Kojima for quite a while. Shinkawa is also the person who designed the logo for the studio and it definitely harkens to the cyber-punk genre that Hideo Kojima's games have been known for. Ludens is made to look like a knight crossed with an astronaut that has a skull for a face.

The statue stands about 63 inches tall and includes a base and a flagpole that bears the logo of Kojima Productions. The statue is considered to be a more realistic look for Ludens as he has human eyes behind the skull, and the figure is also set to come with LEDs that will light up the helmet.

Over 150 units are going to be produced of the statue, and each will also be signed by Hideo Kojima himself. This is a high-end collectible produced by Sideshow and Prime 1 Studio, and it's priced at $1,999.99.

The statue is set to release sometime around January and March 2018, but there have also been reports that Kojima Productions had partnered with Good Smile Company to make cuter and more affordable figures of Ludens.

As of now, fans are waiting for Kojima Productions first game, Death Stranding to be released sometime in 2017, and hopefully Ludens will find his place in pop-culture then.
