Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi Firmwares Available For First Time

Samsung has released the first firmware for its Galaxy Note 8.0 Wi-Fi device.

The firmware, available only for the Wi-Fi 16GB model GT-5110 of the Galaxy Note 8.0, was released in XSG (United Arab Emirates) and TUR (Turkey).

According to Samsung Updates, the Galaxy Note 8.0 firmware "packs Android Jelly Bean 4.1.2 (N5110XXBMC9) with build date 15.03.2013 and changelist 1048977."

The firmware for the Galaxy Note 8.0 also packs TouchWiz UX and S-applications from Samsung, with support of S-Pen.

Samsung Updates further includes, not too surprisingly, more updates for Samsung firmware here.

The Galaxy Note 8.0 was first announced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona in February 2013 and is said to have an 8-inch display with 1280 x 800 resolution. Running  on 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos and Android Jelly Bean 4.1, the mid-ranged Android tablet will likely be available within the next few weeks.

Though there seems still to be some discrepancy about exactly what the cost of the 8-inch Galaxy Note 8.0 will be, SamMobile suggested back on Feb.18 that we can expect shilling out 350 euros ($450) for the device that also boasts a 5-megapixel back camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera and 2 GB RAM, among other exciting features.

As relayed by SamMobile, a photo "received from an anonymous tipster" by Phone Arena shows the Galaxy Note 8.0 in charcoal black.

"Despite playing host to just 16GB of internal storage, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 features list sees the tablet capable of supporting microSD card expansion up to 64GB, ample space to fully utilize the integrated 5-megapixel rear-mounted camera," Trusted Reviews says.

What do you think? Does the new firmware draw you further into the grip of Galaxy Note 8.0 anticipation? Or are you wondering why anyone would bother? Let us know in the comments below!
