A couple of months ago, Huawei has issued a few software updates and just yesterday, the company revealed that the new Mate 9 was making its US debut starting Friday, January 6. The Huawei Mate 9 will be available for only $599.99, a great price for the smartphone.

The Huawei Mate 9, as reviewed by ZDNet, brings together the big screen and battery of the Huawei Mate 8 plus the awesome dual-lens of the Leica camera from the Huawei P9 to create the best of Huawei in a single device.

These hardware features are then powered by the latest Google Android 7.0 Nougat and EMUI 5.0 so that this Huawei Mate 9 has everything an enterprise user could want in a single Android smartphone. The Huawei Mate 9 will be sold as a GSM SIM-unlocked smartphone in the US at Newegg, Amazon, B&H and Best Buy.

Huawei has announced that Huawei Mate 9 will arrive with an app that gives users access to the Amazon’s Alexa. Huawei says that the app will offer users a “natural, convenient user interface” for talking to the digital assistant. It will also be capable of all the usual tasks such as setting an alarm clock, making a to-do list, getting information about a specific news and reporting regarding the weather.

As reported by The Verge, this is the first time that Alexa has come preinstalled on a smartphone. With this, it is making for a definite and clear challenge to Apple’s Siri and the Google Assistant. The same application will be delivered to existing Huawei Mate 9 smartphone owners via an over-the-air update.
