Love And Hip Hop Executive Producer Premieres The Gossip Game: Media Rivalry At Its Best

Executive Producer Mona Scott-Young's latest reality show, The Gossip Game, airs April 1 on VH1 and there's already a buzz going. The new series chronicles the lives of some of the most popular women of the media industry.

Following up the successful Love and Hip Hop VH1 series, The Gossip Game isn't only about what the title refers to. There's also a prevalence of competition among a group of colleagues who happen to be well known media personalities. The existence of gossip and rumors are just an inevitable part of the entertainment lifestyle.

The Gossip Game cast consists of seven women from various media platforms and backgrounds. There's Vivian Billings, founder of Hip Hop Gossip site; Sharon Carpenter, an award winning on-air and online journalist at Global Grind; Candice "Ms. Drama" Williams of Ms. Drama TV; JasFly, a freelance writer and journalist who writes a weekly column for Vibe.com; K.Foxx, co-host of Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg Morning Show with K. Foxx at Hot 97; Kim Osorio, Editor-in-Chief of The Source magazine and Angela Yee co-host of The Breakfast Club at Power 105.1.

The "bloggers versus journalists" debate was a hot topic during the Q & A session at the show's premiere party. Some argued that journalists, unlike bloggers, have a duty to report facts and remain unbiased and objective when presenting news.

"There are a lot of bloggers who get their stories from other blogs or sources that aren't checked and there's a danger that comes along with that. That's why there is a lot of misinformation out there, on the Web. It's a generalization, not every blogger is like that. You also have to respect me, as a journalist, someone who is trained to gather facts, you have to respect my opinion as well," said Sharon Carpenter when asked if she implied that bloggers never check facts.

Angela Yee and K. Foxx briefly spoke about their alleged radio station rivalry. Yee asked Foxx if her bosses at Hot 97 would allow them to possibly host a party together, implying that Foxx's station controls her every move.

"If it was for charity, then something like that; but if they are trying to book both of us, we've got to understand our worth. They're not going to book two radio stations for the price of one," said Foxx.

Mona Scott-Young has done what seemed almost impossible by getting two members from two New York City rival radio stations to star on the same show.

"One thing we managed to do on The Gossip Game is bring Hot 97 and 105.1 together side by side," said Scott-Young, executive producer of The Gossip Game, during the show's premiere party. Friendly competition makes for good reality TV drama and viewers can expect things to get a little heated during the first season.

The media industry is very competitive and every writer or reporter is looking for the latest news or gossip scoop. For the first time, viewers get to see how hot entertainment news and gossip ends up on their favorite media platforms. The premiere episode of The Gossip Game airs Monday, April 1 on VH1. The full episode was posted online for viewers to check out before its official debut.
