Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove Confirmed For Nintendo Switch; What We Know So Far

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove is coming to Nintendo Switch. The developer also promised some freebies to other console owners of the game.

New Name for New Platform

The Shovel Knight game series is available in almost every game console. This includes the PlayStation, Xbox, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, Windows PC, OS X and Linux. This time, developer Yacht Club Games is adding a Nintendo Switch title.

The upcoming Switch game will be known as Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. It will contain the main game plus two additional contents, Plague of Shadows and Specter of Torment. The latter is still an upcoming expansion. The new Treasure Trove title is also available for all PS4, Xbox One and Windows PC owners of the game. They also get to receive all upcoming updates for free.

Not All Are Free

The original game is also getting a new name to Shovel Knight: Shovel of Hope. It's also going to cost more from now on. Even its previously free standalone expansions will feature a price tag. The developer though has yet to set a specific amount for the rebranded game.

Upcoming Features To Expect

The developer also told fans that it will deliver a local two-player co-op mode similar to the Wii U is also coming out. Unfortunately, that particular feature is not available to the Nintendo 3DS and PS Vita. There's also a body swap mode currently under development. This allows characters to switch armors with each other. A four way fight mode and a new campaign focused on the King Knight is supposed to come out sometime this year.

Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove Release Details:

Yacht Club Games has not set a specific a release date for Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. Unfortunately, the upcoming game is coming out as a digital download. There is no physical format scheduled for release, according to the YCG web site.
