Sims Online: Unofficial Remake Of The Iconic Game A Disaster?

Legions of fans were excited when they heard that a private developer is doing an unofficial remake of Sims Online. FreeSO started their works already but unfortunately, they pull the plug.

In their official website, the lead developer and creator of the remake, put into details on why they have to temporarily stop the project. The initial launch of the project already encountered numerous errors such as multiple servers crashed. This is only a hump on their masterpiece and vowed to come back better and more prepared.

Sims Online: Overload

The original plan was to at least cater 200 players on its initial release last January 6. But it was more than what they expect as over 1000 players tried to log in and play this massive game. It was visible that the developers were not prepared for it. As initially reported, one of their servers went down instantly when 500 players were trying to send request at the same time. Also, the language barrier was an issue. Multiple DoS attack and a huge number of players from Brazil insisted to join the lobby.

The developers tried to make an immediate solution on the issue that popped out but time is not on their side. A lot of players were impatient already and insisted in joining the game. This was the main reason why Rhys made the decision to stop the game after 1-day of its launch.

Sims Online: New Launch Date Announced?

After Rhys announced the cancellation of the project, he made an official statement about Sims Online Unofficial remake. “I was banking on everything working fine for the launch, as the date was actually set as the latest possible before I had to go back to university and work on my final year project.” There is no new launch date yet but they are already working on the errors that were encountered.
