Recent reports have pointed to the launch of a new tablet from Acer — Iconia A1-810 — which will look to throw the gauntlet to Apple's pint-sized iPad mini.
The Iconia A1-810 from Acer will look to tap into the smaller tablet space and challenge the current tablet king, Apple.
Here is the comparison of the iPad mini and the Iconia A1-810:
A quad-core MediaTek MT8125 ARM Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz powers the Iconia A1-810. On the other hand, Apple's custom-designed A5 processor powers the iPad mini.
Both the Acer Iconia A1-810 and iPad mini feature similar-sized displays. The Iconia A1-810 sports a 7.9-inch IPS LCD screen and the iPad mini has a 7.9-inch LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology.
Both the tablets have a 1024 x 768 pixels resolution. The Acer offering has a pixel density of 162 ppi versus Apple tablet's 163 ppi.
The Acer Iconia A1-810 measures 208.7 x 145.7 x 10.5 mm, whereas the iPad mini has 200 x 134.7 x 7.2 mm dimensions, making the former taller, wider and thicker than the latter.
Weight-wise, at 460 gms, the Acer offering is heavier than the iPad mini (308gms).
The iPad mini is available in 16/32/64GB on-board storage options, whereas the Acer tablet is reported to come only in 16GB. It is not known if the Iconia A1-810 will offer the option to expand the memory further via a microSD card.
The iPad mini sports a 5-megapixel rear-facing iSight camera and the Iconia A1-810 is also slated to feature a 5-megapixel primary snapper.
However, the Acer offering will have a VGA front-facing camera compared to the iPad mini's 1.2-megapixel one.
The iPad mini includes a 16.3 watt-hour battery (4440mAh), which Apple claims will provide 10 hours of continuous productivity. By contrast, the Iconia A1-810 will pack in a much smaller 3,250mAh battery.
Price And Availability
Apple offers the iPad mini for $329, $429 and $529 for the 16GB, 32GB and 64GB versions, respectively.
