Ultimate Edition of Injustice 2 Will Be Worth $100?

A lot of people are excited for the release of NetherRealm's Injustice 2, and when the story trailer was released, it was also revealed that the game will come with three different versions - The Standard Edition, The Digital Deluxe Edition and the Ultimate Edition. News has it that the Ultimate Edition will be coming with a hefty price tag of $100.

The Ultimate Edition

According to the official website, the Ultimate Edition of Injustice 2 will come with 3 premier skins for the Flash, Green Lantern and Supergirl. Premier skins are different in a sense that they come with a whole alternate costume, voice and dialogue, so it's like getting a whole new playable character. This edition also comes with two different gear shader packs - The Destroyer and The Defender.

What's probably the most intriguing thing about the Ultimate Edition is that it comes with nine DLC characters. With that number of characters absent in the Standard Edition of the game, it's a wonder if anyone will even be willing to buy anything else other than the Ultimate Edition.

Is $100 Worth It?

Game Tyrant points out that $100 would seem like a huge price for extras that could be considered only cosmetic in nature. There's also the concern on whether the nine DLC characters will be available on launch day or sometime in the future after the game's launch. With about 28 playable characters rumored to be in the roster that would mean that the Standard Edition would be coming with only two-thirds of playable characters. Who would even buy the standard edition at this point?

As for the identity of the nine DLC characters, nothing yet has been revealed. A good guess is that they could be the characters outside of the DC roster like Hellboy, Spawn or anyone from NetherRealm's Mortal Kombat franchise.

Injustice 2 is set for a release this coming May 16.
