Amazon Initiates Self-Publishing Award Worth £20,000
Amazon has just revealed an exciting new contest for the enthusiastic literary buff. The Kindle Storyteller Award is open for authors of new books set in the English language and published through the Kindle Direct Publishing.
This is actually the second time that Amazon has organized a writing competition in the UK. Just recently, there was competition regarding a modern writing of the poem "Twas Night Before Christmas".
The works which should be submitted between February 20, 2017 to May 19, 2017 are required to be unpublished. Interested authors need to note that there is also a word count requirement of a minimum of 5,000 words. Any genre will be accepted from biographies, to psychological thrillers, to historical fiction novels, as long as the work is of top notch quality.
The authors will get their works printed for sale on the Amazon.co.uk store. The books will also get published on Kindle and Fire devices. Users of iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets with the Kindle app can also get copies of the books.
A panel of judges which will consist of Amazon executives and literary figures will mainly determine the official Kindle Storyteller of 2017. According to Amazon, readers will be given a role when it comes to picking out the shortlist. A number of factors which measure customer interest in the titles will be noted.
"We hope to encourage aspiring authors and those who have already been published, to get writing and make their new stories available to readers across the world," says EU Kindle content director at Amazon, Alessio Santarelli. "Publishing a book has never been easier, and the Kindle Storyteller Award will reward the author whose story resonates most with both readers and literary experts."
A £20,000 cash prize will be handed over to the selected winner at a central London ceremony in July. A long with sum of money, the winner is promised a marketing campaign to support the book on Amazon.co.uk. Translations for international sales is also part of the winning gifts.
