Nokia Lumia 520: The Most Affordable WP8 Smartphone Makes It To The U.S.

Launched at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event earlier this year, the Nokia Lumia 520 has already made a positive impact in the smartphone space. Now the most affordable Windows Phone 8 (WP8) smartphone will be available in the U.S.

Recently, T-Mobile (USA) announced its version of the Lumia 520, which is called the Lumia 521, and now the unlocked handset will also be available from U.S. online retailer Expansys at a price tag of $224.99.

The Lumia 520 features many impressive features that a user will need in an entry-level smartphone, and with the launch of the handset in the U.S., it seems that the Finnish company wants to attract customers looking to buy an affordable smartphone and at the same time experience the WP8 operating system.

The Lumia 520 sports a 4-inch IPS LCD display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution and 235 pixels per inch (ppi). The touchscreen on the Nokia Lumia 520 is so sensitive that you can even use it with your gloves on, making typing, chatting and surfing easier than before.

A dual-core 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM powers the handset. The handset is available with 8GB of on-board storage, with the option to expand further, to a maximum 64GB using a microSD card.

The Lumia 520 is equipped with a 5-megapixel rear-facing snapper and unfortunately, the handset does not have a front-facing camera. A 1430mAh battery powers the smartphone, which gives up to 360 hours of standby time and up to 9 hours and 40 minutes of talk time on 3G.

The smartphone measures 4.72 x 2.52 x 0.39 inches and weighs 4.37 ounces.

If you are looking to buy the Nokia Lumia 520 from Expansys, you can pick from five colors: black, white, red, yellow and cyan.
