Sony launched the Xperia ZL along with the Xperia Z at the International CES in January this year. Both the devices are very similar, barring a few differences, and the company confirmed that not all regions will get both the handsets. However,  Canada is confirmed to get the Xperia ZL and Mobilicity has started selling the device in the country.

Mobilicity has priced the handset at $599.99, which is highest-priced handset along with the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and the BlackBerry Z10. The recent launch of Samsung Galaxy S4 has pushed the price of its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S3, to $399.99.

Sony has not confirmed if the Xperia Z will launch in Canada, so for now the Xperia ZL will be the company's best handset in Canada. The launch of Xperia Z in Canada has been surrounded with controversies, as the company initially indicated that the handset will release in the country but then said that the handset may not launch in Canada.

"Everyone is really excited about the week we've had at CES. A global representative made an error regarding Canadian product availability. At this time we can confirm that Canadians will be receiving the Xperia ZL as previously announced, but we have nothing to announce about the Xperia Z availability in Canada at this time. We will share more news on future products as they are confirmed," said a previous Mobile Syrup report.

The Xperia ZL features top-end specifications that a smartphone user will want to have in a high-end smartphone. However, with the top-bracket pricing, along with the recent launch of HTC One and the Galaxy S4, it may be difficult for Sony to attract potential smartphone buyers to buy the Xperia ZL.
