Pokemon GO Android Users Confronted With 0.55.0 Bug

A lot of Pokemon GO players using Android devices are experiencing game crashes. The latest 0.55.0 update is seen as the main culprit for the bug.

The Android Crush

Pokemon GO developer Niantic recently released the 0.55.0 update for Android devices. Unfortunately, many players reported that the game crashed whenever they try to open the medals lists. Other users also reported that simply customizing their avatar will cause the game to crash. The bug is still relatively new but it has already affected various smartphone brands and models. Not all Android devices though are affected by the crash or the users may not have triggered it yet.

Android Smartphones Affected

Many of the affected smartphones and tablets included Samsung's Galaxy S3 to S5 as well as Galaxy Note 2 and 3. Several Huawei, LG, Moto and Xaiomi models are also experiencing the bug.

Many Samsung Galaxy S6 and S7 models seemed to be unaffected by the bug. Curiously, a number of Galaxy S5 owners who played Pokemon GO did not report any game crash.

Pokemon GO Earns One Billion

Meanwhile, Pokemon GO has also earned at least $1 billion since launch, according to Sensor Tower. Its daily revenue though has dropped significantly. The mobile game now earns an average of $2 million per day compared to $18 million during the first months.

Revenue Prospects

Analysts believed that Niantic can no longer expect to earn such a huge amount in the future, according to Forbes. It's true that Pokemon GO lost large parts of its player base but the game can still pull them back. The special events that Niantic held were rekindled interest from former players. The mobile game is also expected to release more new Pokemon and features in the coming days. The game is earning less now but it's still profitable for Niantic to continue with it.
