2014 Subaru Forester: Specs & Price

The 2014 Subaru Forester boasts a pretty impressive spec sheet given its price point. The fourth generation Forester is larger than the model that preceded it, and gets better fuel mileage, among other improvements.

Subaru says it scaled up the 2014 Forester to better match some of the larger compact-crossover vehicles it competes with. The 2014 Subaru Forester will be about 1.4 inches longer than the 2013 Forrester, and an inch has been added to the wheelbase.

The 2014 Subaru Forester will come in a number of configurations, but the price tag for the base model starts at a fairly modest $22,995. For the 2014 Subaru Forester 2.0XT Touring Sport Utility variant, the price tag swells to $32,995. Note that these are MSRP's and may not reflect the actual cost you'll pay at the dealership.

The 2014 Forester gets 24 city and 32 highway miles and has a range of 349 miles. It has a 2.5-liter engine that produces 170 horsepower at 5800 rpm and 174 ft-lbs. of torque at 4100 rpm.

The 2014 Subaru Forester will be the first crossover to feature X Mode, which helps with poor driving conditions. On wet or poorly paved roads, the drivetrain has trouble distributing torque evenly to each of the four wheels, which can cause loss of traction. X Mode solves this problem by dynamically compensating for bad driving conditions.
