BlackBerry Q10: T-Mobile First U.S. Carrier To Score QWERTY Smartphone

T-Mobile has been on a mission to be the first carrier in the U.S. to carry some of the most anticipated smartphones of 2013, and it looks like the carrier just scored big again. T-Mobile has announced it will be the first carrier in the U.S. to carry the physical QWERTY-packing BlackBerry Q10 smartphone.

T-Mobile is following the same launch guidelines as it had previously done when it began offering the BlackBerry Z10. T-Mobile will begin by offering the BlackBerry Q10 to its business customers initially and then allow general customers to purchase the BlackBerry Q10.

T-Mobile issued the following press release today regarding the news:

"T-Mobile today announced that the BlackBerry Q10 will be added to its growing 4G LTE smartphone portfolio. Beginning April 29th, business customers interested in registering for the BlackBerry Q10 can visit https://business.t-mobile.com/blackberry-q10. Additional details, including availability and pricing, will be shared at a later date."

The BlackBerry Q10 features a 3.1-inch, 720×720 Super AMOLED display with 330ppi, dual-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Plus processor, 8- megapixel rear camera, 2-mp front-facing camera, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage expandable to 64GB with microSD slot, 2100mAh battery, NFC and LTE connectivity.

Many die-hard BlackBerry fans have been waiting for the BlackBerry Q10 to be released, since it brings the keyboard the company is known for to a BlackBerry 10 smartphone. When BlackBerry officially announced both the BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry Q10, it decided to release the all-touch Z10 first and followup a few months later with the Q10. So far, sales of the BlackBerry Z10 have been exceeding expectations and have breathed new life into the smartphone maker.

There has been no official word of when the BlackBerry Q10 will launch for general customers, but Engadget is reporting that it has heard from official channels that the T-Mobile BlackBerry Q10 would be available toward the end of May.
