Batman: Arkham Origins: Dark Knight Losing His Voice?

Voice actor Kevin Conroy, the man behind the animated cowl since 1992, may not return for Batman: Arkham Origins.

Reportedly, Warner Bros. Games Montreal is looking to replace Conroy with a new voice to play a younger Batman/Bruce Wayne. Conroy was originally cast as the Dark Knight for the 1990s cartoon Batman: The Animated Series.

Following massive amounts of critical acclaim for the show, as well for his performance, Conroy went on to voice Batman in Batman Beyond, Justice League, the first Arkham video games, Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, and the recently released DC fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us.

The new addition to the Arkham series is a prequel to the previous two games that will show Batman earlier in his career, encountering many members of his rogues gallery for the first time.

Officially confirmed villains include Black Mask, Penguin, looking much, uh, healthier than he did in Arkham City and Deathstroke.

The prequel will also double the size of the open world aspect of Arkham City, dividing it into Old Gotham, the area from the previous game, and New Gotham, a whole new section to explore.

For now, the new voice actor for Arkham Origins is yet to be revealed.

After Arkham City, Mark Hamill, yes that Mark Hamill, said that would be his last performance as the Joker.

A major aspect of the fan appeal of the Arkham series was that it reunited Conroy with Hamill as the arch nemesis from the 1990s cartoon.

Batman: Arkham Origins also lost the developer of its predecessors, Rocksteady Studios, with Warner Bros. Games Montreal taking over.

The game has a targeted release date of Oct. 25 for the PC, Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii U. No word yet on whether it will be available for the next gen consoles PS4 or the Xbox 720.
