Samsung Galaxy S4 Knock-Off: The Galaxy Core

The Samsung Galaxy S4 is already available for some users, but consumers who are fans of the S4 can now opt for a cheaper option with the budget-friendly clone the Samsung Galaxy Core.

According to leaks, the Galaxy S4 knock-off, the Galaxy Core, will have a 4.3-inch display with a 800 x 480 resolution. It will come with an unknown dual-core processor at 1.2GHz along with 768MB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage expandable through a micro SD card. Dual-SIM support is also included, as is a five-megapixel rear facing camera and 1,800 mAh battery.

Expect the knock-off Galaxy Core to sport Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and a TouchWiz overlay. Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and GPS will also be supported.

The Samsung Galaxy Core seems to be similar to the Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy Win and Galaxy S2 Plus in terms of design. Like those devices, however, Samsung of course scaled back on the specifications side to better position the phone within the budget lineup.

The leaks come from the Russian publication Hi-Tech, who state that the Galaxy Core was originally slated for China only. Russia is apparently joining the list, however, with a reported release in the country in May for 14,000 rubes. The report made no mention of whether or not the Galaxy Core will be arriving in other markets.

It should be remembered to take the report with a large grain of salt, especially given the fact that the Russian price tag for the Galaxy Core seems a bit large. That said, Hi-Tech does have a fairly strong track record when it comes to smartphone predictions.
