Samsung Galaxy S Advance Gets Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update

An Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update has been released for the international variant (model number i9070) of the Samsung Galaxy S Advance.

The Android 4.1.2 I9070XXLQE update for the Galaxy S Advance is available in Poland, Germany and Ukraine. It is expected that the Android Jelly Bean update will arrive in other locations throughout Europe soon, though for now it is only available in the above-mentioned countries. The update can be accessed via Samsung Kies and can also be installed manually. It will not work on devices in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Aside from a number of bug fixes, the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update also provides several new features. These include Project Butter for stronger overall performance, an enhanced notification system and Google Now.

Released in April 2012, the Samsung Galaxy S Advance sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED display at 800 x 480 and 233 ppi. In terms of power, it has a dual core Cortex-A9 processor at 1 Ghz which runs with the help of a Mali-400 GPU. Also included is 768 MB of RAM and 8/16 GB of internal storage, expandable through a microSD card. The smartphone features a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera.

The update for the Galaxy S Advance follows its release for users in India, which came after Samsung released the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update for the Galaxy S2 there as well. The software update for the Galaxy S Advance in India is available OTA (over the air) as well as through Kies. When the device was released in India it was priced at Rs. 26,900 but has since received two price cuts.
