Samsung Galaxy S4: What Samsung Did Wrong And Why (Video)

The Samsung Galaxy S4 has only just come out and already some are questioning whether or not it truly is "the next big thing," as the company has been referring to it since before it was even unveiled in March.

Though there's certainly no question that Samsung is the biggest, boldest mobile manufacturer on the globe today, and that the Galaxy S4 is a hot device with plenty of firepower to whet any fanboy's palate, there's still plenty more that the company could have done to make the smartphone even hotter ... especially according to critics and analysts.

As the Motley Fool reports in its analysis of how Samsung almost seemingly "flubbed" the Galaxy S4 "intentionally," lukewarm reviews range from those of the Wall Street Journal ("Not a game-changer ... software is especially weak") to the New York Times ("More of a refresh than a real upgrade").

"This really begs the question," the Motley Fool goes on to say, "with Samsung having so much momentum with the Galaxy S3, why didn't it go ahead and finish the job, killing off Apple and really running away with it?"

The Fool's suggestion of "the most obvious answer" is that Samsung simply couldn't do better with the Galaxy S4, being that the technology was just not available. But it then goes on to say that there's likely another more dastardly reason we might be able to believe Samsung did intentionally "flub" the S4.

Samsung is releasing its own OS later this summer called Tizen. With Samsung having announced that we will be seeing a "premium phone" at that time, it's quite possible that it will be with that device we'll be seeing some of this "next big thing" technology the company touted at CES 2013, such as the flexible screen,

Though, as the Fool puts it, "everyone agrees that [the Galaxy S4] is in fact an upgrade from the S3 in most ways, but if Samsung really wants to have a 'banner rollout' for it's own product, it doesn't surprise ... that the S4 is let's say 'underwhelming' compared to what it could have been."
