iPhone 5S Camera Leak: Is It On The Way Sooner Than We Thought?

There's been a new leak of an image of the rumored iPhone 5S motherboard, and it's not the same one we told you about back in April. Whereas that leak showed off the iPhone 5S A7 processor, this one gives us a hint about the iPhone 5S camera.

The possible leaked image of the motherboard for the iPhone 5S may in fact tell us more about the iPhone 5S' front and rear cameras.

According to Gotta Be Mobile in an article it published on Thursday, May 9, the motherboard image first showed up on a Japanese website before being picked up by Nowwhereelse.fr. Nowwhereelse.fr compared the alleged leak to a similar part of the iPhone 5 in order to deduce the rear and front camera connection for the iPhone 5S.

Because the iPhone 5S will allegedly be similar in design to the iPhone 5 (which makes obvious sense), there is a great deal of veracity to the part's being for the former phone, since it does appear to be similar to that of the latter. And we hear that the next iPhone will likely vaunt a 12MP rear camera in order to go up against the HTC One.

Other camera-related specs and features for the likely forthcoming iPhone 5S include:

  •  An improved front-facing camera
  •  1080P HD video calls
  •  Better-looking self-portraits
  •  iOS 7 feature that would allow for DualShot-like capability

There have already been plenty of rumors surrounding the iPhone 5S, including the fact that we may actually see the iPhone 6 coming up instead along with the notion that some parts for the iPhone 5S are already in the works.

That we are now seeing this new alleged motherboard leak for the iPhone 5S means that it is far more likely the iPhone 5S is coming sooner rather than later, as "we tend to see small part leaks as production approaches and suppliers ramp up," as Gotta Be Mobile puts it, adding that production for the iPhone 5S will reportedly start as early as June.

"While the iPhone 6 showed up in a carrier listing this morning, it is more likely that the iPhone 5S will arrive this year," Gotta Be Mobile says.
