Samsung Galaxy Book vs Apple iPad Pro 2: 2017 Best Tablet Face Off

Samsung's highly anticipated Galaxy S8 is a no-show at MWC this year, however, Samsung has pulled out all the stops to improve its tablet division at the biggest mobile trade show of the year. The company introduced two tablets to its newly named Galaxy Book line to partner the also unveiled Galaxy Tab S3, said to compete against Apple's iPad Pro line.

Apple is reportedly planning to announce four new iPad models sometime this month. It is also rumored that the highly anticipated iPad Pro 2 is already scheduled for release. However, Apple has no official word yet to confirm the reports. Rumors rounding up the internet claimed that March 2017 is the earliest we'll see it or iPad Pro 2 slips into the summer and it will come with major improvements.

Samsung Galaxy Book: Specs And Features

The Galaxy Book will be available in two different sizes; 10.6in and a larger 12in. The most notable difference between the two devices is the screen tech. The 10.6in features a TFT Full HD LCD display with a resolution of 1920x1280 while the bigger 12in has a Super AMOLED display with 2160x1440 resolution. The 10.6in Galaxy Book is powered by Intel Core m3 processor much like the 12in MacBook, on the flipside, the 12in Galaxy Book has a solid state Intel Core i5.  Both models come with Samsung's S Pen stylus and the case comes keyboard in the box. Samsung's Galaxy book runs Windows 10. Also, it supports fast charging and Full HD video recording. Moreover, Samsung hasn't revealed any prices for the Galaxy Book yet, so it's impossible to know how it will compare with Apple's pricing.

Apple iPad Pro 2: Expected Specs And Features

iPad Pro 2 is set to come with a thinner bezel and up to four new variants. A variety of sizes includes 7.9-inch, 12.9-inch, and a 10.5-inch or 10.9-inch. Powered by an A10X processor, it was Apple's first chip to combine high-power and low-power cores that can be activated depending on the difficulty of the task you're trying to get done. If it's an easy job, the low-power cores will handle the grunt job, saving battery life as a result. Furthermore, iPad pro 2 will feature an impressive 12-megapixel iSight camera with True Tone Flash and True Tone displays and 3.5mm headphone jack. Additionally, it comes with a new magnetic Apple Pencil, smart connector, and four speakers at a lower-priced ($299) entry-level model.

The Verdict

Samsung has not yet announced its pricing for the Galaxy Book.  The bottom line, it will all trim down to the performance. Choosing between iOS and Windows, that's a major difference, and what will determine which tablet is best for you. Apple's iPad Pro is the better device for entertainment and for use as a tablet. On the other note, the Galaxy Book will be the better choice for productivity.
