Moto G5 Plus Release Date Set For March 15, G5 and G5 Plus Prepped For Android 8.0 'O'

The Moto G5 Plus will most likely drop in stores across India on March 15. The premium Lenovo smartphone under the Motorola brand will come with Android 7.0 Nougat but the company has reportedly prepared both the Moto G5 and G5 Plus for Android 8.0 once the rumored operating system finally rolls out.

The Moto G5 and G5 Plus were officially unveiled at the 2017 Mobile World Congress about a couple of weeks ago. The Moto G5 Plus will start selling in India next week and will be exclusively sold at Flipkart, according to reports. Flipkart is arguably the most popular online retail store in India. This is a homecoming of sorts as the first ever Moto G smartphone was also sold exclusively in India through Flipkart in 2014. The following year, the Moto G was made available on Amazon and other platforms. The Moto M and Moto E3 Power are also only sold at Flipkart.

As for the Moto G5, it can already be pre-ordered at Amazon UK. Fans of the device may book the 16GB variant with 3GB of RAM for £179.99. The Lunar Grey Dual Sim model of the Moto G5 is exclusive to Amazon and will be released on April 1. In the United States, only the Moto G5 Plus will be available starting April.

The latest smartphones from Lenovo's successful Moto G line features a metallic finish that has been raved about since it was unveiled. The 5-inch Moto G5 will come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chip and a 2800mAh battery while the 5.2-inch Moto G5 Plus will be powered by the Snapdragon 625 processor and will have a 3000mAh battery. Both devices will have 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded to 128GB.

As mentioned, the Moto G5 and G5 Plus are supposedly ready in case the new Android OS comes out. It was recently reported that Google is working on three new features for its OS. The new features will likely make it to the new Android 8.0 which is rumored to be called Android Oreo.

The 2GB RAM variant of the Moto G5 Plus will be available for Rs. 15,300 or roughly $229. The 3GB model, meanwhile, will have a Rs. 19,700 price tag which translates to $295.
