Gran Turismo 6 Announced (Video)

Sony officially announced Gran Turismo 6 for a holiday 2013 release on Wednesday May 15.

The announcement of the game came along with a trailer and screenshots.

With Gran Turismo 6, you'll see all the tracks from Gran Turismo 5 back again. The game will have 33 total tracks with 71 layouts. There will also be seven new locations, including the Silverstone Circuit. Players can create additional races through a revised course maker with a new GPS data feature.

You'll also find all of the cars from Gran Turismo 5. With new additions, there will be more than 1,200 cars in total. Customization options will also be available.

The 50 screenshots for Gran Turismo 6 include a number of stylish vehicles and race track views. We also see some environmental effects including leaves and sunlight. There are some interior car pictures along with the exterior ones.

Additional upgrades for Gran Turismo 6 can be expected as well. The user interface has been remade and more social features are said to exist for the game. A brand-new engine will be included, perhaps making the game more suitable for next-generation consoles.

The Gran Turismo franchise is exclusive to PlayStation. It's a bit surprising that Sony didn't announce a PlayStation 4 version of the game. However, it's possible that the company is waiting until E3 for that reveal. According to Sony, we'll know more about Gran Turismo 6 at E3 as well as Gamescom.
