Apple Removes Bang With Friends, The One-Night-Fling App, From Apple App Store

Sorry weekend swingers, you're out of luck. Bang with Friends, the nascent Facebook-integrated iPhone application which lets friends who are interested in, um, "banging," has been removed from Apple's App Store on Friday.

The hookup app, under the name "BWF Official," arrived on Apple's App Store last week, though the service has been online since January. So far, the service has netted has 1 million users.

Those who seek out the iPhone application online will only be greeted by the iTunes notice: "The item you've requested is not currently available in the U.S. store."

CEO and cofounder Colin Hodge told Valleywag he's in talks with Apple to have the application restored to the iPhone. The application's website simply states they'll be right back soon, and offers users the option of entering their email to be notified when application is reinstated.

Though it's uncertain when, and if, that will be. While the service has had a few quibbles with Facebook –– its icon, featuring a couple in a very compromised position –– it has had a relatively smooth operation.

The service matches users with friends, also using the application, who are interested in knocking boots, and, supposedly, keeps all activity anonymous.

But there is a massive privacy issue with the application: typing special URL address into your address bar can reveal all of your Facebook friends who use the service.

In response to that revelation, Bang with Friends released a statement, explaining the application launched right before Facebook Graph Search expanded to a wider audience. Because of that, the privacy settings in the application was matched to the user's Facebook privacy settings, typically public or friends. The service said it has since rectified the issue.

And that may explain Apple's motivation. Apple pulling sexually explicit apps –– or even apps suggesting sex –– is nothing new, but as VentureBeats notes, the company may have also pulled the application over privacy guideline or data violations as well.

The service's official Facebook page is still up, and provides links to both Apple and Google app stores. And Android flingers are still in luck: their variation of the application is still up and running.
