YouTube Has A Dark Mode Settings, Here's How To Unlock It

In a recent report, YouTube is currently testing out a Dark Mode for Windows 10 as well as MacOS. YouTube fans will appreciate this move since the darker theme will make the viewing experience less stressful on the eyes when watching content for hours or late at night. While the feature is soon to be officially announced since YouTube is currently testing it out.

According to a source, the discovery was made by a Reddit poster and will turn those retina-blasting white spaces into Gray and Black. Some other users have tested it in Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. Below are some very simple steps that will let you enable the Dark Mode on both Windows 10 and also with MacOS.

First, make sure you're using the most recent version of Chrome (version 57 or later). Second, open Chrome, navigate to YouTube and users must log into their account. Third, open Google Chrome's Developer Tools panel by hitting Command-Option-I on a Mac or Ctrl-Shift-I on users running Windows. Then, on the panel that opens on the right side of your Google Chrome window, just click the Console tab. Copy and paste this line of code: document.cookie="VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE=fPQ4jCL6EiE"

Next, press Enter and Close the Developer Tools panel and refresh YouTube. Finally, just click on your profile icon in the top right and you will see a more extensive menu that includes a line for Dark Mode, click it and select the toggle switch to Activate Dark Mode. Though, users will need to reactive Dark Mode each time they restart Chrome. Google will make this experimental feature official sooner, to save the step of entering the code. This helpful feature will make things a little easier on the eyes, especially those who stream late at night.
