The full patch notes of this update list other changes and improvements that it brings to the game. For instance, controls will be more responsive now especially when the timer is running out when a gamer chooses a Mii racing suit for online matches.

With the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe patch, online racing matches will now end 30 seconds after the winner reaches the finish line. The item wheel will not spin continuously during online matches. Communication errors will no longer occur frequently as before while spectating online matches and even after. During online matches, if a player uses an item after the Super Horn, that item will now be made available to other players.
