Nokia 8 To Run On Android 8.0.0, Geekbench Reveals

A new device named "Unknown Heart" has been spotted featuring a Snapdragon835 chipset and 4GB RAM. The device is said to be running Android 8.0.0, which is yet to be launched. Everyone is eagerly looking forward to the both Nokia 8 and Android 8.0.0, as reported GSM Arena.

Going by its usual schedule, Android 8 O will be revealed within a month. Android O is slated to come firstly on Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, and the Nexus Player devices. Therefore it looks highly unlikely that the Nokia 8 will run on Android O out-of-the-box. However, it does offer another possibility of HMD Global rolling out Android O update shortly after the Nokia 8 launch.

However, some reports show high possibility about the Nokia 8 to be the first smartphone to run Android Oreo/Octopus (aka 8.0.0). The chance of launching the device with Nougat on board and rolling out Android 8.0.0 update OTA cannot decline though, as reported by Android Hits.

According to leaks, the Nokia 8 is said to boast either a 5.3-inch or 5.7-inch display with full HD (1080p) resolution. On the memory side, the device could launch with 4GB of RAM or 6GB of RAM coupled with 64GB of onboard storage.

On the photography front, the Nokia 8 is expected to feature a Carl Zeiss-branded dual-camera setup at the back. HMD Global's recent partnership with Carl Zeiss is said to see its first fruit in the Nokia 8. The smartphone might also have the USB Type-C port, and a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button.

For the release date, several reports suggest that HMD will take the wraps off the Nokia 8 on August 16, as the Android 8.0.0 will probably have been finalized by the time.
