MediaTek has started sending out invites for a launch event. Scheduled on August 29, tech enthusiasts and analysts will see the announcement of new Helio P23 and Helio P30 processors.

The MediaTek Helio P23 and Helio P30 are the new members of the P-series, which are targeted at smartphones with slim profiles. They will offer improved battery efficiency without skipping on performance.

Based on reports, the Helio P23 will be an octa-core 16nm chip built by TSMC. It is said to boast an octa-core CPU. The chip is expected to support 2K displays, dual camera setups, Cat.7 connectivity and LPDDR4X memory as reported by Gizmochina.

On the other hand, MediaTek Helio P30 is expected to be a more powerful chipset as compared to the Helio P23. In fact, this chip is said to be the most powerful chipset in the P series and is expected to be manufactured by TSMC's 12 nm process, which is better than Helio P23.

The MediaTek Helio P30 will also boast an octa-core CPU with four Cortex-A72 cores clocked at 1.5 GHz and the other four Cortex-A53 at the 1.5GHz, which is similar to Helio P23. The connectivity this chipset is expected to be Cat.10, which means that it will be offering the higher download speeds of up to 600Mbps. Recently, a Weibo user has also claimed that MediaTek is expecting over 3 million shipments of the Helio P23 and Helio P30 chips per month, as reported by GSM Arena.

Manufacturers such as Meizu, OPPO, Vivo, and Gionee have reportedly signed up for the Helio P23 already. When both Helio P23 and Helio P30 chips are announced we may see more manufacturers pick it up for their mid-range phones. Some of these smartphones, with upcoming MediaTek processors, might even get the release by the end of this year.
